Messingham Named Big Sky Golfer of the Week

FARMINGTON, Utah – Gage Messingham garnered his second Big Sky Conference Men's Golfer of the Week honor of the season, league officials announced Wednesday.
The Bears pace the league with the most awards as a team with five, spread among four members of the squad.
Messingham, a freshman from Arvada, Colorado, tallied 11 birdies and an eagle on his way to a four-way tie for 14th par at the Grand Canyon Invitational on the GCU Golf Course (par 71/7,239 yards) Tuesday and Wednesday.
He finished with a 3-under par 210. Messingham opened with a 1-over-par 72 in Tuesday's first round, dropping in three birdies. He posted a 71 in the afternoon session, with five birdies, including three in succession on holes 10 through 12.
In the final circuit around the course, Messingham bogeyed hole number one and birdied the par-4 fifth and 14th holes. He played the two par-5s on the back nine at 3-under par, with a birdie on the 10th and an eagle on the 18th.
Messingham and the rest of UNC return to competition Monday, April 1 and Tuesday, April 2 at the Cowboy Classic – hosted by Wyoming in Maricopa, Arizona.
