GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado suffered a tough 1-0 loss to Montana at Jackson Stadium Sunday.
"I am so proud of the effort," head coach Tim Barrera said. "We came up on the wrong side of the result."
Lexi Tuite led the Bears with three shots, with Samantha Carter adding two. Mia Norman, Rachel Mortensen, Sunnie Yarnell and Ashley Hillman inked one each.
The Grizzlies capitalized off a set piece in the 73rd minute. A loose ball landed on the left boot of a Montana attacker in the box, who slid it through the defender's legs and off the fingertips of a diving Kaya Lindberg.
"When you are the lone wolf and playing a rested team on Sunday, you are looking for effort from your players," Barrera said. "We got that today. We played a lot of players and I think they stepped up today.
