Bears Fall to Wichita State

GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado suffered a setback against Wichita State in the final match of the Hampton Inn & Suites Northern Colorado Classic at Bank of Colorado Arena Saturday.
Makenzie Harris registered a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs.
The Bears fell to 5-6 with the 15-25, 25-19, 15-25, 16-25 setback, while the Shockers improved to 6-4.
UNC STARTERS: Annette Baker, Isabel Bennett, Syd Cole, Makenzie Harris, Cece Huhn, Gabi Placide and Bella LePore
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1: Knotted at 13-13, Wichita State ran off 12 of the final 14 points, including the first 10 to grab the early 1-0 advantage.
Set 2: UNC returned the favor in game two, jumping out to a 13-7 advantage. After a response from Wichita State trimmed the margin to three, the Bears rattled off six unanswered and pulled ahead 21-12. Following a 6-1 spurt closed the margin to 22-18, UNC evened the match with a 3-1 response of its own.
Set 3: Deadlocked at 8-8, Wichita State moved in front 2-1 by outscoring the Bears 17-7.
Set 4: The Shockers scored six-straight points turning a 4-4 tie into a 10-6 advantage, riding the momentum to the 25-16 win in game four and sealing the victory.
