Four UNC Men’s Basketball Student-Athletes Named to NABC Honors Court & Team Academic Excellence Awards

GREELEY, Colo. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced their 2023 Team Academic Excellence Award and their NABC Honors Court members. Men's basketball student-athletes from across the country were recognized for their hard work in the classroom, and the University of Northern Colorado men's basketball team had four honorees on this year's list. Bryce Kennedy, Matt Johnson II, Riley Abercrombie, and Theo Hughes are four of over 1,000 student-athletes honored for their academic excellence.

To qualify for an NABC Honors Court award, a player must be academically in their junior, senior, or graduate student year and be a varsity player. They then must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the academic year and must be a member of a four-year institution with at least one active NABC-member coach.

The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize men's basketball programs that completed the 2022-23 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior, and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2022-23 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.

The NABC's academic awards include honorees from all levels of college basketball.
