GREELEY, Colo. – The University of Northern Colorado Board of Trustees approved the contracts for head football coach Ed Lamb and head volleyball coach Lyndsey Oates Friday afternoon.
"I am very appreciative of the Board of Trustees and President Feinstein for the continued support of UNC Athletics," said Director of Athletics Darren Dunn. "Coach Lamb and Coach Oates are tremendous people who have had great coaching success and believe in building champions for life."
Lamb's contract officially starts July 1, 2023, and ends December 31, 2027. Oates' new contract begins July 1, 2023, and concludes June 30, 2028.
Lamb, who won a Big Sky championship at former Big Sky Conference member, Southern Utah University, and most recently assisted in building the BYU football program, is excited to get to begin the 2023 season.
"Thank you to the Board of Trustees, President Feinstein, and Darren Dunn for their support in leading our football program at UNC," Lamb said. "We have been hard at work getting ready for the upcoming season and we can't wait to see our students, fans, staff and faculty, and community at Nottingham Field beginning in September."
Oates has been leading the UNC volleyball program since 2005 and the program continues its rise as the premier volleyball program in Colorado and the Big Sky Conference. Under Oates' leadership, the Bears have secured seven Big Sky Conference tournament championships, including back-to-back titles in 2021 and 2022. Oates has led the Bears to six Big Sky Conference regular season championships and claimed back-to-back titles in 2021 and 2022.
"I am thrilled to continue what we've built at UNC! We have a great thing going with supportive administration, a great staff, and committed student-athletes. We are positioned to win more Big Sky championships and advance in the NCAA tournament. I really want to make that happen at UNC," Oates said. "I've always felt appreciated at UNC, and I think they understand my loyalty and commitment to the Bears as well!"
