Bears Fall At Buffaloes

BOULDER, Colo. – Northern Colorado suffered a 90-68 setback against Colorado at CU Events Center Friday.
Saint Thomas led the Bears with 27 points and nine rebounds, while Theo Hughes registered a career-high 14 points.
Jaron Rillie handed out six assists and Dejour Reaves netted four steals, each pacing the squad in the respective categories.
Midway through the opening 20 minutes UNC trailed by five when Hughes converted in the painted, with 8:57 left. The Buffaloes utilized a 21-5 run, including nine straight to close out the half and held a 48-27 advantage at intermission.
Over the final frame, UNC hung with the Buffaloes, matching each other shot for shot.
Colorado rattled off 10 points in succession and pushed the cushion to 36 just six minutes into the final stanza. Trailing 70-34, the Bears responded with a 9-0 spurt of their own and outscored the home side 34-20, over the final 14:01.
