UNC Falls to Wyoming in NIVC Round of 16

GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado fell in three sets (23-25, 30-32, 24-26) in the second round of the National Invitational Volleyball Championship against Wyoming at Bank of Colorado Arena Friday.
Makenzie Harris led the Bears with 17 kills, while Gabi Placide tallied 11.
Syd Cole handed out a team-high 35 assists and led the squad with two aces.
Cece Huhn led the team with four blocks, including one solo, which established a new Division I era record for the Bears' program. She finished her career with 83.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In a back-and-forth opening set, Wyoming ran off six of the final 10 points. The Cowgirls turned a 19-19 tie into a two-point victory and grabbed the early advantage.
In game two the teams totaled 21 ties and 10 lead changes, with both sides squandering chances to close out game two. The Bears held four set points, including at 24-22 but failed to slam the door shut. They fought off three set points for the Cowgirls, including at 30-29 when Placide knotted the score at 30-30.
With the season hanging in the balance, UNC needed one point to extend the match to a fourth set but a Wyoming kill knotted the frame at 24-24. An ace and a Bears' miscue closed out the match for the Cowgirls.
