Reines Sets Career High in Loss at Idaho

POCATELLO, Idaho – Brynn Reines set a career high with a match-leading 16 kills but Northern Colorado suffered a four-set (25-20, 23-25, 27-29, 20-25) loss to Idaho State at Reed Gym Friday.
Reines paced three Bears in double-digit kills, hitting .423, with 16 kills on 26 swings. Makenzie Harris added 12 and Gabi Placide chipped in with 10.
Syd Cole recorded a double-double, with 39 assists and 14 digs. Michaela Boon anchored the backline with 16 digs and a team-high two aces.
UNC ran off 16 of the final 20 points in game one to move ahead. The Bears utilized a 10-0 run in the middle of the spurt, flipping a 16-9 deficit into a 19-16 advantage.
Knotted at 19-all in set two, the teams went even at one game apiece after the Bengals outscored UNC 6-4.
The Bears staved off three set points before falling in extra points and falling behind 2-1. Idaho State earned the victory by scoring the final six points of the deciding game.

"That is a hard one to swallow," head coach Lyndsey Oates said. "We could not close out at the end of the games. We must be better and this will be a good lesson for us moving forward. I trust our team and we will get back at it Monday and Tuesday for next week's matches."
