Swim and Dive kicks off WAC Championships, eyes surge on Day 2

HOUSTON, Texas – The 2022 WAC Swimming and Diving Championships officially got underway on Thursday in Texas. With two relays and one diving event in the books, the Bears sit eighth with 30 points.
Northern Colorado swam at record pace in the 200 medley relay. We're it not for a disqualification, UNC would've posted a school record in the event and grabbed a gold medal.
The Bears were back in the pool moments later in the 800 free relay. The quartet of Zoe Gawronska, Elizabeth Mayer, Giulia Pavanello and Anna Austin turned in its fastest time of the season with a 7:27.72 and a fourth-place finish.
The 1-meter diving portion of the championships also wrapped up on Thursday, with Madison Berg turning in a 124.75 across four dives.
What's next
Plenty of events remain on the horizon for Northern Colorado as the Blue and Gold looks ahead to day two in Houston. Friday's schedule includes the 200 free relay, 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free and 3-meter diving.
