Koelzer goes 2-0 on the weekend, Bears fall to BIson

UNC wrestling dropped its road dual to North Dakota State 22-13
FARGO, ND – Northern Colorado wrestling completed its trip to the Dakotas on Sunday taking on the Bison of North Dakota State. UNC jumped out to a 10-3 lead, but NDSU came up the victors 22-13.
Jace Koelzer completed a 2-0 weekend by winning the 125 lbs bout to open the dual. He defeated Ryan Henningson of North Dakota State by a major decision 12-4. Koelzer had two takedowns in the opening period and recorded five total for the match leading to 2:02 of ride time.
No. 6 Andrew Alirez bounced back from his loss on Friday night with a shutout of No. 29 Dylan Doregemuller. He recorded a takedown in the first period, earned an escape in the second and had the full two minutes of ride time in the third. Overall, he had 3:03 of ride time in the 4-0 win.
Chris Sandoval ended going 2-0 on the day with a dual win against Gaven Sax by decision 3-2 and tech fall at 5:18 (16-1) against Austin Braun in an extra match. Sandoval's early takedown in the first period helped him earn ride time to secure the win against Sax. Meanwhile, he had three takedowns and two four-point near falls in his extra match against Braun.
Jacob Seely closed the dual out with a win for the Bears with a 4-2 decision against Michael Nelson. Seely had a takedown in the first period and reversal in the second on his way to victory.
What's Ahead
Northern Colorado closes out its dual schedule with a trip down I25 next Sunday. The Bears will face Air Force at 1 pm on Sunday, February 20.
