UNC adds more season-best marks at Utah Tech

ST. GEORGE, Utah—The UNC swimming and diving team continued its assault on the school's all-time performance list with another impressive showing at the Trailblazer Invitational on Friday.
In all, the Bears posted eight individual top-10 performances and added a pair of solid results in relay events.
In the 200 free, Anna Austin placed fifth overall with a season-best time of 1:51.81 to move into No. 10 on the school's all-time performance list.
Another season-best came from Claire Timson in the 100-yard backstroke. With a 56.11, Timson jumped into a tie for the No. 7 all-time spot at UNC.
Competing in the 100 breaststroke, school record holder Bryanna Ungs, popped a season-best 1:02.86 to place fourth overall while teammate Maria Erokhina was close behind with a 1:03.36 for sixth place and the No. 7 time in school history.
Katelyn Bergin, another school record holder, matched Ungs result with a fourth-place swim in the 100 butterfly at 54.76. In sixth place, Payten Irwin climbed the UNC all-time rankings with a 55.07 for sixth place.
In the 400 medley, Paula Nunez and Jana Hellenschmidt cracked the top 10 at the Trailblazer Invite. Nunez placed ninth at 4:27.93 while Hellenschmidt is the new school's No. 9 in the event with a 4:29.13 finish.
Jumping the home squad from Utah Tech, the Bears ended the day in third place with 287 points. UC San Diego leads UC Santa Barbara 552 to 452 for the top spot in the team standings.
