Jackson wins 100 at Utah Tech

ST. GEORGE, Utah—Cutting a full second off her previous career best, Ali Jackson defeated a field of more than 70 competitors to win the 100 freestyle to lead Northern Colorado at the Trailblazer Invitational on Saturday.

After posting the meet's fastest time in the prelims with a 50.41, Jackson returned with a 49.76 to capture the meet title and improve on her No. 2 ranking in school history.

The Bears also received top-five finishes from Anna Austin (1,650 free), Maria Erokhina (200 breast), Payten Irwin (200 butterfly).

Already the school record in the event, Irwin placed third overall in eth 200 butterfly with a 2:01.31. Erokina took fifth in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:17.59 to move into the No. 7 spot on UNC's all-time performance list.

With 11 teams competing, the Bears ended the three-day meet in third place with 444 points. UC San Diego outpaced UC Santa Barbara 748 to 681 for the top spot in the team standings.
