Bears make climb in final round in Hawaii

KAPOLEI, Hawaii—Knocking 10 strokes off their score from the previous round, the University of Northern Colorado women's golf team jumped a spot to ninth place to close out action at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational on Wednesday.
Northern Colorado (308-309-296—913) fired an 8-over 296 in the final round to surpass North Dakota State in the team standings. The Bears also defeated programs from Portland State, the University of Wyoming, and CSU Northridge.
Colorado State (282-293-282—857) outpaced Gonzaga (282-301-288—871) for the tournament title.
Carding a 2-under 70 on Wednesday for a nine-spot leap on the leaderboard, Marija Jucmane (74-78-70—222) led UNC by finishing in 20th place.
Coming in as UNC's No. 2, Louise Dahl (78-74-78—230) placed 39th with a strong 2-over 74 in the middle round of play.
In addition to Jucmane, Amy Chitkoksoong (78-79-74—231) and Carolina Fallotico (78-82-74—234) both recorded their finest round of the tournament in the finale. Chitkoksoong moved up 10 places while Fallotico gained eight spots through the final 18 holes of action on the 6,208-yard course.
Colorado State's Sofia Torres (69-73-69—211) and Gonzaga's Cassie Kim (67-73-71—211) ended the event with 5-under 211s to share medalist honors.
