Castiglia, Zhang pace Bears at TPC Colorado

BERTHOUD, Colo.—In the mix for medalist honors throughout the tournament, Jack Castiglia once again led the Northern Colorado golfing contingent, this time with a 6th-place finish at the TPC Colorado on Wednesday.
Castiglia closed out the 54-hole event with a 4-under 212 (69-73-70—212) across the 8,001-yard course. Castiglia, the recently minted Big Sky Golfer of the Week, shared the top spot on the leaderboard through the first day of action after firing a 3-under 69.
As a team, the Bears carded a 36-over 900 for seventh place in the team standings.
Finishing in a tie for 28th, Yuze Zhang (+7) gave UNC two starting members inside the top 30 while Garrett Willis (16th +4) and Gage Messingham, (28th, +7) scored well while competing as individuals.
As one of three teams shooting under par for the event, Colorado State (287-277-299—852) never trailed during the event to defeat the runner-up squad from BYU (291-281-284—856) by four strokes.
With a 9-under 207, Colorado State's Connor Jones held off BYU's David Timmins (-7) for the individual title.
