Wrestling Ready to Scuffle into 2022

UNC wrestling to compete at the Southern Scuffle.
GREELEY, Colo. - Northern Colorado wrestling will compete in the Southern Scuffle in Chattanooga, Tennessee to start the year 2022. The Bears look to top their program best performance from 2020.
Bear Facts
- Andrew Alirez earned second place at the Cliff Keen Invite the last time the Bears hit the mat. He is now 9-1 on the year and ranked in the top 10 of multiple rankings.Â
- The Bears have three wrestlers who earned pre-seeding this weekend. Andrew Alirez is the No. 2 seed for 141 lbs, Chris Sandoval No. 8 for 149 lbs and Alan Clothier No. 7 at 197 lbs.
- Clothier aims to become a four-time placer at the Scuffle this weekend.Â
- UNC's last trip to the Southern Scuffle was a successful one. The Bears has four placers to help the team earn its best performance in program history. Andrew Alirez and Dalton Robertson earned runner-up while Alan Clothier and Mosha Schwartz ended up taking seventh place.Â
- Northern Colorado welcomes a pair of newcomers at the semester in Jacob Seely and Cameron Lucero.Â
- UNC sent a small group of competitors to the Reno Tournament of Champions with two taking fourth place and another in the top eight. Nick Knutson and Branson Britten earned fourth place in 165 and 184, respectively. Meanwhile Rudy Lopez had a top eight finish.Â

The Bears return to dual action next weekend with a trip to California to face Cal Poly and CSU-Bakersfield on January 7 and 9, respectively.
