GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado student-athletes have been succeeding on the field and in the classroom. With the 2021 Fall semester is in the books, the Bears boast yet another term GPA above 3.0 at 3.04 and a cumulative GPA of 3.26.
It's the 18th-straight semester UNC has posted a GPA north of 3.0.
"Our student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom," said Director of Athletics Darren Dunn. "I am so appreciative of our academic staff, coaches and faculty for their tremendous support of UNC's student-athletes." As we strive to build Champions for Life, I am proud to see what these student-athletes accomplish academically and in their respective sports."
UNC was led by women's basketball who carded a term GPA of 3.63 and were followed closely by soccer (3.627) and women's swim and dive (3.623). In total, 10 different programs claimed a GPA over 3.0 with five of them (women's basketball, women's golf, soccer, women's swim and dive and women's volleyball) excelling over 3.5.
Individually, 53 student-athletes earned 4.0 GPAs this semester with 28 of them holding a perfect cumulative GPA.
Academic success is nothing new to the University of Northern Colorado Athletic Department. They have led the Big Sky in Graduation Success Rate (GSR) for five straight years and recorded an 89% mark in the latest reports released by the NCAA earlier this month.
