Swim and Dive sits second after another strong day in Utah

ST. GEORGE, Utah – Seventeen lifetime best swims and another three school records has UNC sitting second with 394 points after day two at the Mid-Season Invitational.
Another strong relay performance kicked off Friday night in Utah. This time Madelyn Moore, Chelaine van der Westhuizen, Katelyn Bergin and Saana Liikonen swam a 1:41.03 in the 200 medley relay. Less than a half-second from a school record, the fearsome foursome finished second only to UC San Diego.
The theme of top times in the Western Athletic Conference continued as Bergin swam the 100 fly in 54.51. Her prelim time of 54.31 broke the school record. Bergin also swam in her third final of the evening in the 100 back, clocking a time of 57.87.
Paula Nunez Blazquez kept her strong Mid-Season Invitational going in the 400 IM. Her time of 4:25.95 is now the second-fastest in the conference this season.
In the 200 free, freshman Giulia Pavanello led the charge, hitting the wall at 1:52.87.
Van der Westhuizen was back in the pool in the 100 breast. Her time of 1:03.71 led all Bears on Friday with Bryanna Ungs not far behind at 1:04.07.
Northern Colorado capped off its night in the 800 free relay. Moore, Nunez Blazquez, Lily Mayer and Pavanello swam a 7:33.99.It was more's opening split of 1:49.72 that earned her yet another school record.
Madison Berg turned in one of her best efforts in the diving well. Berg scored a 207.80 in the 1 meter but saved her best performance for the 3 meter, grabbing a career-best 221.85 to finish third.
