GREELEY, Colo.- UNC Women's Swim and Dive will hit the road to St. George, Utah for the Mid-Season Invitational on Thursday. The Bears will compete in the three-day meet hosted by Dixie State University.
Â
The last time UNC was in the pool they dominated in multiple events against rival Wyoming, including the 400-meter relay with Madelyn Moore, Chelaine van der Westhuizen, Payten Irwin, and Saana Liikonen clocking a time of 3:48.27. Other first-place victories over Wyoming included Anna Austin in the 1,000-yard freestyle and Katelyn Bergin in the 100 back. Saana Liikonen, Ali Jackson, Giulia Pavanello, and Madelyn Moore sealed the victory in the final event of the night with the best time in the conference of the season at 1:34.52 in the 200 free relay.
Along with Moore's many accolades this season, the senior from Sandys, Bermuda was selected to represent her country at the FINA World Championships (25m) in Dubai next month. Head coach Lisa Ebeling was also hand-picked to represent Bermuda as a coach in the event.
Â
The Bears will also go into the invitational with the advantage of a free week to prepare. Northern Colorado headlines a deep field of teams at the Invitational which include BYU, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, New Mexico State, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, CSU Bakersfield, UC Davis, Cal State East Bay and host Dixie State.Â
Ebeling's crew have already knocked off BYU, Dixie State and New Mexico State in the early parts of the 2021-22 season.Â
Northern Colorado remains within the top-20 of College Swimming's Mid-Major rankings for the week. At No. 18, the Bears have been inside the top-20 every week so far this season.
Â
The Mid-Season Invitational will run from Nov. 18-20 and will kick off at 10 a.m. MT with prelims. Finals are slated for 5 p.m. MT.
