GREELEY, Colo. – New year, same goals.
Northern Colorado Swimming and Diving aims to kick off 2021 with an emphatic statement at Air Force this Friday and Saturday. It's been over a month since the Bears last stepped onto the blocks.
UNC will also face Colorado Mesa and the Colorado School of Mines in Colorado Springs this weekend. UNC has already met the Mavericks this season back in November when the Bears took the season-opening dual, 145-117.
It's been two years since UNC faced the Orediggers. Back in 2018, Northern Colorado took care of Mines 166-88.
Last season, the Bears dropped its dual against the Falcons, 147-91, but were paced by three wins from Anna Austin, Petra Kis and Maddy Moore.
Anna Austin has kickstarted her junior campaign with a pair of wins in the 1000-yard freestyle and a stellar fist place effort in the 200-yard butterfly (2:10.69) against Wyoming.
Freshmen duo Katelyn Bergin and Saana Liikonen have given head coach Lisa Ebeling a lift in the early part of the season. The pair combined for four first-place swims against Mesa and two individual wins versus Wyoming.
Northern Colorado will also feature a new coach on deck. Returning home to Greeley after a distinguished career at the University of Utah, Brody Lewis joins Ebeling as an Assistant Coach of the program.
