Big 12 Releases Pre-Seeds for Championships This Weekend

Six wrestlers seeded for Big 12s, including three freshmen
IRVING, TX – The Big 12 Conference released its pre-seeded brackets for the wrestling championships this weekend in Tulsa, Okla. The Big 12 championships will take place from Saturday, March 7 to Sunday, March 8.
Alan Clothier earned the Bears top seed at No. 4 in the 184 lbs bracket. Clothier will face West Virginia's Jackson Moomau in the preliminary round on Saturday. During the UNC-WVU dual, Clothier earned the fall over Moomau at 5:47 this past November.
Andrew Alirez makes his Big 12 Championship debut as the No. 5 seed in the 149 lbs bracket. The true freshman will take on Oklahoma's Jacob Butler in the preliminary round.
Jace Koelzer will compete in his first Big 12s and grabs the No. 5 seed for the 125 lbs bracket. In the preliminary round, Koelzer will wrestle Josiah Nava from Utah Valley. The redshirt-freshman defeated Nava in a 14-1 major decision during the UNC-UVU dual last month.
Dalton Robertson gets No. 6 seed in the heavyweight bracket. Making his second trip to Tulsa, Robertson will await the winner of the preliminary match between No. 3 seeded Josh Hokit from Fresno State and West Virginia's Brandon Ngati. Robertson previously knocked off Ngati in the dual match, 3-2 by decision, with Ngati being ranked at the time.
Jacob Seely earns the No. 7 seed in the 197 lbs bracket in his third Big 12 championship appearance. Seely will face the winner of the preliminary matchup between
No. 2 Tanner Sloan from South Dakota State and Iowa State's Joel Shapiro. Seely faced Shapiro at the 2019 Cliff Keen Invitational, winning a 4-2 decision.
Mosha Schwartz heads to Tulsa for the first time as the No. 8 seed in the 133 lbs bracket. In his preliminary match, Schwartz will battle West Virginia's Lucas Seibert. Schwartz defeated Seibert in their dual match with a 22-7 tech fall at 5:18.
Chris Sandoval will look to replicate his 2019 performance at the Big 12s, as he faces top-seeded Dom Demas from Oklahoma in the preliminary round of the 141 lbs bracket. Sandoval knocked off No. 1 seed Josh Alber at last year's championships.
Jimmy Fate returns to the Big 12s to face No. 7 seed Dewey Kruger from Wyoming in his preliminary match.
Jordan Robison makes it back-to-back seasons in Tulsa and will take on No. 3 seeded Randy Meneweather from Air Force in the preliminary round.
Billy Higgins will have his first taste of postseason wrestling, drawing the top seed in the 174 lbs bracket, Bryce Steiert from Northern Iowa.
