Bears battle with Aggies, fall late

UNC men's basketball went toe to toe with Utah State until a late run
LOGAN, Utah – Northern Colorado men's basketball closed out a tough five games in 10 days stretch Friday night with a visit to Utah State. The Bears led with 14 minutes left in the game before the Aggies pulled away from a tired UNC.
Three Bears finished the game in double-figures scoring in Daylen Kountz, 13 points, Kur Jockuch, 11, and Bodie Hume, 10.
Utah State came out of the gates hot making six of their first seven shot attempts to lead UNC 13-6. The Aggies cooled off the rest of the half only going 6-for-24 from the field.
Tre'shon Smoots gave the Bears a spark off the bench draining a pair of threes in part of an 8-2 run in the middle of the first half. The run pulled UNC within striking distance of Utah State.
Northern Colorado proceeded to take its first lead in a minute left in the half when Rodrick McCobb hit a trey to cap up off an 11-3 run.
The Bears took the lead and pushed it to 36-32 on a great move from Jockuch with 14:14 left when fatigue set in. USU went on an 11-0 run to take control of the game.

- Kur Jockuch showed he can compete with some of the best in the nation on Friday night. He outscored his counterpart Neemia Queta, an NBA prospect, 11-6. He added in three rebounds and an assist.
- Bodie Hume and Daylen Kountz tied for the team lead with six rebounds each.
- Tre'Shon Smoots helped the Bears off the bench with six points, two assists and a rebound in 19 minutes.
What's Ahead
It's Big Sky season starting next week for the Bears! UNC will host Idaho State on December 22 and 23 to start the conference season. Tip-off is set for 2 pm on both days.
