Back at Home, Bears host No. 15 Northern Iowa

Northern Colorado will battle the Panthers on Friday at Bank of Colorado Arena
After two months away from home, Northern Colorado wrestling returns to Bank of Colorado Arena this Friday to host Big 12-foe, No. 15 Northern Iowa at 7 p.m.
UNC is ranked No. 32 by W.I.N Magazine and No. 35 by Trackwrestling.com this week.
Andrew Alirez earns rankings from five publications, coming in at No. 8 by W.I.N. for the 149-pound list. Alirez is No. 11 in The Open Mat, No. 14 by Trackwrestling, No. 17 by Intermat.com and No. 18 by FloWrestling.com.
Dalton Robertson earns his top ranking from Track at No. 11 at 285-pounds. Robertson is also No. 15 by Flow, No. 16 in both Intermat and Open Mat's rankings, while being No. 20 by W.I.N.
Mosha Schwartz appears at No. 19 in Track and W.I.N.'s rankings and comes in at No. 20 by Flow. Schwartz earns the No. 21 ranking from Open Mat as well for the 133-pound division.
Jacob Seely picks up three rankings, earning the No. 20 spot from Open Mat at 197-pounds. Seely is No. 22 by Track and No. 25 in Flow's rankings.
Alan Clothier claims the No. 28 ranking from both Track and Open Mat's 184-pound list.
Austin Matthews is listed at No. 25 in Track's 165-pound rankings.
The last time the Bears were at home they defeated West Virginia, 31-10, with UNC winning seven matches and scoring bonus points in four.
UNC is coming off two road duals this past weekend, starting with a 21-12 loss to Oregon State on Friday. The Bears then faced a tough test against No. 8 Oklahoma State, falling to the Cowboys, 36-3. The team's dual record dropped to 1-3 this season and 1-2 against Big 12 opponents.
UNC has an opportunity to go head-to-head with one of the top-ranked teams in the nation on its home mat.
Scouting the Panthers
Northern Iowa is ranked as high as No. 15 by Trackwrestling and the team is No. 18 in the National Wrestling Coaches Association poll. The Panthers are also No. 16 tournament in Intermat's tournament rankings and No. 24 in their dual rankings. The come in at No. 16 by FloWrestling, while being No. 17 in Open Mat's tournament list and No. 25 for duals. In W.I.N.'s dual rankings, UNI is 16th and No. 17 for tournaments. This season, UNI is 2-3 in dual matches, going 1-1 in the Big 12. The Panthers defeated Missouri 20-13 last Sunday, but lost to South Dakota State, 25-13, on Friday.
Last season, Northern Iowa defeated UNC 38-6 in Cedar Falls, with the Panthers winning eight matches.
Supporting the Bears
Northern Colorado will host No. 15 Northern Iowa on Friday, Jan. 17 with the first bout starting at 7 p.m. (MST).
The dual will be UNC Wrestling's Defend the Den and Bears Supporting Bears night.
The first 50 students who arrive at Bank of Colorado Arena can enjoy a pre-dual Qdoba Fiesta.Â
FloWrestling.com will stream the dual between the Bears and Panthers. Additionally, live scoring can be viewed on Trackwrestling.com.
Clash in the Commons
Tickets are still available for Northern Colorado's inaugural Clash in the Commons, Jan. 26 against CSU-Bakersfield at 2 p.m. Students can pick up their tickets to the Clash in the Commons at the dual against Northern Iowa(limited quantity). Fans can also purchase tickets to the Clash in the Commons during and after the dual this Friday night.Â
