On how the men preformed
I thought both races went as well as expected today, we competed against some of the best teams in America. It was a great learning experience for both the athletes and coaches today. We still have a lot of work to do, our spread from our first man to our fifth was 43 seconds which is too much in my book. I will have to make some adjustments and do a better job of coaching in preparing our men to do better next time out. Outside of that I am extremely proud of our men's performances.
About the women's team's performance
On the women's side I thought they did a great job. We are a very young team and still learning how to race and function as a team. I am confident that Coach Sickler will get them on the right track.
Looking at the next meets
Our next competitions are going to be very competitive and we're just starting to round into shape. Our first mile on both sides needs to get better. We are going to have to get out faster and have a more established rhythm. We are going to make some adjustments in our training to help us race more tactically and efficiently so that we will be better prepared next time out.

On the women's performance
This was a meet to shake the rust off and see where we are at to start the season. I was very pleased with our ladies performances especially the freshman. They really stepped up to the line when we needed them to. We have a very young women's team in which I have no doubt in my mind that with the right direction and getting everyone healthy we will be able to move up and start hitting some personal bests soon. Our men have several talented runners that pack up and work together which will be exciting to watch as the season unfolds.
What's Ahead
Northern Colorado returns to competition on September 21 when the men and women will split up to compete in different events. The women head to Lincoln, Nebraska to compete in the Woody Greeno Classic, while the men go to Terre Haute, Indiana for the John McNichols Invitational.
