@UNCOSwim_Dive matches highest finish at WAC Championship

UNC swimming & diving finished third at the 2019 WAC Championships
HOUSTON – Northern Colorado swimming and diving matched its highest ever finish at the WAC Championships by taking third place with 503.5 points. It joins the 2014-15 team who also finished third. Over the four days the Bears swam 22 National Invitational qualifying times and three NCAA B-qualifying times. The team also had 12 top 3 finishes, breaking down to five firsts, five seconds and two thirds. Overall, the team had 16 top 8 finishes.
Northern Colorado set school records in the 100 free and 400 free relay on Saturday.
Maddy Moore was a part of both of those record setting times, doing so first in the 100 free, before closing out the meet by helping UNC earn a school record in the 400 free relay. Moore finished second in the 100 free with a time 49.32 to set the record.
She led off the 400 free relay team that earned first place by touching the wall in 3:20.45. She was joined by teammates Rose Saya, Morgan King and Emily Hamel.
Hamel, like Moore, also swam in the 100 free finishing in seventh with a time of 51.27.
Two other Bears earned top 5 finishes on the final day of competition in Rose Saya and Holli Johnson, both in the 1650 free. Saya finished third with a time of 16:51.67 and Johnson fifth at 16:53.65
In the 200 fly, Hallie Peterson earned a top 8 finish with a time of 2:04.31 to take seventh.
What's Ahead
UNC will now come home for a few weeks to prepare for the CSCAA National Invitational over March 14-16. UNC has 22 entries into the Invitational.
