Bogulski, Lamb Place Sixth in Reno

Northern Colorado had a pair of placers in the Reno Tournament of Champions Sunday
RENO, Nev.- Northern Colorado wrestling competed in the 2019 Reno Tournament of Champions on Sunday. Sethan Bogulski and Brody Lamb both placed sixth in their respective weight classes.
"Today we got a lot of experience," head coach Troy Nickerson said. "The guys competed hard and we found out a lot about ourselves. I'm looking forward to getting back home and working on getting better."
Bogulski had solid weekend in Reno, going 5-2 to earn the sixth-place finish in the 174-pound bracket. Starting the day off, Bogulski defeated Chase Short(Montana-Northern) in a 6-1 decision. Bogulski dropped a tough 11-6 decision against Levi Perry(Corban) to send him to the consolation bracket.
Moving to the consolation round, Bogulski picked up a 6-1 decision win over Charlie Andrews(Campbell) to advance. Bogulski earned the fall on Jordan Bernal(Menlo) at 3:56 in the first round of eight. Bogulski faced teammate, Parker Benekas, in the second round of eight, defeating the redshirt-freshman in a 10-3 deicison. In the consolation round of four, Bogulski kept the pressure up and defeated Louis Rojas(Cal Baptist), 11-5 by decision. Bogulski would bow out in the fifth-place match by no contest.
Lamb competed in the 141-pound bracket, going 6-2 on the day to place. Lamb started his day with a fall on Riley Gurr(Oregon St.) at 2:15 and a major decision against Nick Camacho(Menlo), 13-1. In his third match, Lamb dropped a 16-0 tech fall against Durbin Lloren(Fresno St.).
Now in the consolation round, Lamb asserted himself, getting the fall on Bracken Lovell(Colorado Mesa) at 2:05. Lamb next faced Kendon Lee, defeating the Grand View wrestler in a 9-4 decision. The redshirt-sophomore advanced in his next two matches by medical forfeits. In the fifth place match, Lamb was defeated by Chase Zollmann, 5-3 by decision.
As a team, Northern Colorado finished in a tie for eighth place with 52.5 points.
What's Ahead
Northern Colorado will be off until the New Year when the team travels to Chattanooga, Tenn. for the Southern Scuffle, taking place from Jan. 1 through Jan. 2.
