Bears, Lumberjacks Set for Dual in the Pool

UNC swim and dive hosts its first home meet of the year on Friday
Northern Colorado swim and dive hosts its first home meet of the season on Friday when WAC foe Northern Arizona comes to town. The Bears and Lumberjacks are set to start with diving at 3:20 pm and then the swimming events begin at 4 pm inside the Butler-Hancock Pool.
For UNC this will be a test to see how well they stack up against the defending WAC champions.
"We are approaching this meet the same way we look at any dual. Our goals are always to be the most spirited team on the deck, to execute smart races, and to race with passion and heart, head coach Lisa Ebeling. "NAU is a strong team so it will be a great opportunity to step up, focus on the details, and test our ability to race tough in the middle of a hard training cycle. I'm excited to see what the girls can do on Friday."
The Bears enter the meet at 1-1 in duals, falling to Wyoming to open the season before defeating New Mexico State two weeks ago.
Against the Aggies, UNC took first place in 10 of the 15 events and finished in second in nine. Paula Núñez Blázquez and Maria Heymans won a pair of events for the Bears, looking to repeat that performance this week.

Northern Arizona has built itself a strong swim and dive program, winning six straight WAC titles. For NAU, Friday's meet will be their first of the season. The Lumberjacks finished in 19th at the National Invitational and are led by a strong group of five senior swimmers.
