Northern Colorado football announces its 2019 schedule and opponents for 2020, 2021 and 2022 season
The 2019 Northern Colorado football schedule is set, along with some future non-conference dates and opponents for the 2020, 2021 and 2022 season. UNC will play a 12-game schedule in 2019 that includes a pair of non-conference games against FBS opponents in San Jose State (Aug. 29) and Washington State (Sept. 7). The Bears will be at Nottingham Field five times in 2019.
It will be a challenging opening to the 2019 season for Northern Colorado as they are away from Greeley for the first three weeks. They travel to San Jose State to open the season on Thursday, August 29. The game will be the earliest start date in UNC football history and the first time the team has played San Jose State.
The road trip continues against Washington State on September 7. The Bears and Cougars matchup will also be the first between the two programs. UNC's three-game road trip ends at Sacramento State on September 14 in a non-conference game.
Northern Colorado's non-conference season concludes with the Bears home opener against South Dakota on September 21. The eight-game Big Sky season starts up the next week when Idaho makes its first ever trip to Greeley after rejoining the Big Sky Conference last season on September 28.
The month of October will feature three games for UNC going to Northern Arizona (Oct. 5) and Eastern Washington (Oct. 12) and hosting Portland State (Oct. 19). Unlike 2018 where the team's bye week came at the end of the year, Northern Colorado will be off the weekend of October 26 before the stretch run of November.
After spending the majority of the first half of the season on the road, it is an even two games at home, two games on the road split in November. UNC will host Montana State (Nov. 9) and Cal Poly (Nov. 23) and travel to Idaho State (Nov. 2) and North Dakota (Nov. 16).
Along with announcing the 2019 schedule, UNC has also put together its 2020 non-conference schedule and pieces of the 2021 and 2022 schedule.
In 2020, UNC will play three non-conference games highlighted by a game in Fort Collins at Colorado State on September 19. The Bears open the 2020 season by hosting Fort Lewis on September 5 and then travel to the Bayou to complete a home and home with McNeese State on September 12. The Cowboys visited Greeley to start the 2018 season.
The Bears have also scheduled a home and home series with Houston Baptist for the 2021 and 2022 season. Northern Colorado will travel to take on the Huskies in 2021 while they make the return trip to open the 2022 season.
Northern Colorado also knows its week two opponent for 2022 when they head north to face the University of Wyoming.
