Jana Pearson joins UNC women's basketball's staff as an assistant coach
GREELEY, Colo. – Head coach, Jenny Huth and the Northern Colorado women's basketball program are happy to announce the hiring of Jana Pearson as an assistant coach. Pearson who has spent the last four years working as an assistant coach at NAIA national power, Vanguard University in Costa Mesa California, will replace Kelly Packard, who is retiring from coaching due to chronic health issues.
"Jana brings great experience to the table having worked for two hall of fame coaches," Huth said. "She learned a great deal under their mentorship. Jana has a great basketball mind, is a tireless recruiter, and she brings great energy to all that she does. Most importantly, Jana is a person who operates with the highest integrity."
The Bears were an immediate attraction to the well respected and dynamic Pearson. Her extensive experience in recruiting, game analysis, practice and game planning and scouting, as well as her expertise in individual player development, are just a few of the attributes Pearson brings to the program.
Pearson will work with the post players and spearhead UNC's recruiting efforts as an assistant.
Before coaching at Vanguard University, Pearson was at another NAIA program in Freed Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee. She worked as an assistant coach at FHU for four seasons. Pearson began her coaching career at Harding University as a graduate assistant for two years.
Pearson joins first-year head coach Huth and her staff of Christian Blanks, Kari Korver and Deb Patterson.
