Matz Shoots 69, Finishes 3rd
FINAL ROUND RESULTS
HOUSTON - For a moment it looked like Northern Colorado might make a run at the leaders, but ultimately UNC didn't quite have enough birdies in them to finish at the top. The Bears finished the day where they started, in fourth place of 13 teams after shooting a final round of two-over par 290.
Joshua Matz and Sam Marley led the way on Tuesday for the Bears. Both carding final rounds of two-under par 70. Matz put five birdies on his card, including a run of four in seven holes at one point. The junior finished the tournament at six-under and took home a fourth place finish. It was his highest finish of the season and second time he's finished in the top 5.
Marley also turned in his highest finish of the season as he finished in a tie for 20th overall. The senior was sitting at two-over for the day going into the final five holes when he ripped off four straight birdies and a par to finish his round.
Andrew Romano had a tough day on Tuesday only able to record one birdie on the day to shoot 76. Romano finished his tournament five-over and in 35th place. Li Chen also shot a final round 76 and tied for 47th place. This was also Chen's highest finish this season.

Coaches Comments:
Roger Prenzlow, Head Coach
"Of course we would have liked to win the event, but all in all we did some really good stuff this week! Joshua played another good event, the rest of the guys look more and more comfortable the more we compete. In the middle of the round today we went on a birdie run and closed the gap to 4 or 5 shots of the leaders. We had to take some chances late that did not pan out but this team, if we do some of the little things better, will put up some incredible rounds this spring. In practice before our next event we really need to get better around and on the greens."
