UNC's Savannah Smith and Savannah Scott earn first and second team All-Big Sky honors
RENO, Nevada – With the regular season wrapped up and the Big Sky Tournament beginning tomorrow, the released its All-Big Sky team for the 2016-17 season. A pair of Northern Colorado guards earned the honor for the first time in their career in Savannah Smith and Savannah Scott. Smith earned a spot on the first team, while Scott was recognized on the second team.
During the Big Sky season, Smith ranked third in the conference in scoring with 17.3 points per game, which also led UNC. She shot an impressive 36.8 percent from the field, averaging 2.9 threes a game, the second most in the conference. Smith also averaged 3.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.9 steals. The steals ranked seventh in the conference, helping lead her to the first team honors along with Peyton Ferris of Montana State, Makailah Dyer from North Dakota, Delaney Hodgins of Eastern Washington and Idaho's Mikayla Ferenz.
Savannah Scott had a stat line of 14.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.4 steals. She led the conference in three point shooting, putting in 50.8 percent of her shots from downtown. Scott ranked in the Top 20 in points (13th), rebounds (19th), assists (6th) and steals (15th). Her shooting overall from the field ranked her sixth in the conference at 50.6 percent.
Along with the All-Conference teams announcement, individual accolades were also recognized. Montana State's Peyton Ferris earned the MVP honor for the league. The awards and all three teams are listed below.
