@UNCBearsWTennis Ready to Take on CSU-Pueblo on Saturday

GREELEY- Colo. University of Northern Colorado's women's tennis continues their spring season with a match on Saturday, January 28th against Colorado State-Pueblo at 10:00am. It will be the Bears first home match of the year and a chance to get in the win column for the first time after losing last weekend 5-2 at Colorado.

Women's Tennis (0-1, 0-0 Big Sky)

Last Season:Â UNC topped out last season with an 8-12 record overall and a record of 4-7 in the Big Sky Conference.

Need to Know: Senior Courtney Shulte had a strong match last weekend versus Colorado as she picked up a two-set win at No. 4 singles for the Bears defeating Chloe Hule of Colorado 7-5, 6-2. Sophomore Lily-Ana Kreutzer was another highlight for the Bears in the match. She went the distance at the No. 6 singles, eventually defeating Kyrra Wojcik of Colorado 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-5). Last season against CSU-Pueblo, the Bears picked up a 7-0 shutout. UNC did not drop a single set in doubles or singles competition.

Good to Know:Â The team was picked to finish eighth in the Big Sky in the preseason poll that was released two weeks ago. One of the best doubles pairs in the Big Sky returns this season for UNC in Beth Coton and Remi Immler. Last season the duo was ranked in the ITA Top-40.

Worthless Stat:Â In 2015, UNC's Beth Coton defeated CSU-Pueblo's Sarah Coy at number four singles. Coy now plays singles on the club tennis team at University of Northern Colorado.

Scouting Colorado State-Pueblo:Â This will be the first match of the spring for the Thunderwolves after going 3-4 in fall matches. Their last win came on September 9th versus Colorado College (5-4). They are led by fourth year head coach Mark Schleif.
