Cross Country Debuted Young Talent at Colorado State Invite

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The 2016 Northern Colorado cross country season began Friday evening with the Colorado State Invitational.
UNC, with only seven combined upper classmen on both teams and a stable of young of runners under first year XC coach Matthew Robbins showed growth from 2015.
Both the men's and the women's team placed fifth overall against all Division I programs.
BEST FINISHES
Cami Kennedy and Kathryn East crossed the finish line with the two fastest times for the women's team. Kennedy finished 22nd overall, clocking in at 19:01 (6:06 avg. mile) and East wasn't far behind with a time of 19:17 (6:13 avg. mile), placing 24th on the leaderboard.
The men's team was paced by Nick Bailey and Kingston Wagner. Bailey took 26st overall, finishing in 16:15 (5:14 avg. mile). Wagner came in 30th, ending his meet with a time of 16:31 (5:19 avg. mile)
MORE TIMES
Cammy Sargent and Erin Thomas were in the middle of the pack for the women's team. Sargent and Thomas placed 29th and 30th, respectively with times of 19:35 and 19:42. Alicia Thompson, Rikki Gonzales and Carly Browning rounded out the UNC women.
Thompson came in 31st, while Gonzales and Browning finished 33rd and 34th. Thompson's time was 19:44 with Gonzales and Browning breaking the tape in 20:12 and 20:34.
The interior of the men's team consisted of Joshua Rogerson and Tristan Irish. Rogerson and Irish came across the end line in 31st and 32nd with times of 16:48 and 16:49. Jeremy Romero, Isaiah Remington and Stephen Haas completed the men's squad.
Romero was good for 33rd and Remington and Haas placed 34th and 35th on the Division I leaderboard. Romero's time was 16:49, followed by Remington and Haas' times of 16:50 and 17:16

The XC teams will travel to Bozeman, Montana on Sept. 17 to compete in the Montana State Invitational.
