GREELEY, Colo. – For his standout performance over the weekend, quarterback Kyle Sloter received recognition from the Big Sky Conference, College Sports Madness and the College Football Performance Awards.
Sloter was named the ROOT Sports Offensive Player of the Week by the Big Sky Conference on Monday.
The senior backup QB was quickly called upon early in the first quarter after Jacob Knipp went down with a game-ending injury.
The QB switch was transparent as he put up video game-like numbers in UNC's 55-52 win over Abilene Christian.
Sloter chucked it for 408 yards on 25-of-32 attempts. He was good for six TD passes and only 1 INT. He also added 41 yards on the ground and a rushing touchdown.
The six touchdowns thrown set a Northern Colorado Division I single game program record and tied the all-time school record set by former QB great, Corte McGuffey in 1998.
The TD passes are also the most in a single game in conference this season.
His performance was the first time since the 2013 season that a UNC QB had thrown for 400 yards or more.
The completions, attempts, yards and touchdowns thrown were all career-highs.
Sloter was also recognized as the Big Sky College Sports Madness Offensive Player of the Week and Honorable Mention FCS Offensive Player of the Week by the College Sports Performance Awards.
This is Sloter's first ROOT Sports Big Sky Conference POTW award.
Montana State cornerback John Walker earned the ROOT Sports Defensive Player of the Week and Montana punt returner Jerry Louie-McGee earned ROOT SPORTS Special Teams Players of the Week honors.
