Greeley, Colo. – Sunday, Nov. 13 wrestling will host the annual Northern Colorado Open at the Bank of Colorado Arena. Wrestling will begin at 9:00 am.
Ensuing a busy weekend of wrestling last week, the Bears have their eyes set on continuing to build upon what was an impressive showing at the Cowboy Open. UNC placed nine wrestlers at the Cowboy Open, and are looking to add to that amount.
Traditionally the Bears have seen success at their own tournament, with five champions last year. Trey Andrews [125], Keilan Torres [165], and Dylan Gabel [184] are the only returners who will be looking to defend their titles.
Coach Troy Nickerson shared his thoughts about this weekend.
"This is a great tournament for our guys to go out and get matches in. We have certain areas we want to improve on from last weekend, and that is where our emphasis will be. I am excited to see our young guys compete again and continue to make strides in developing in all facets of their wrestling."
Some of the teams that will be in attendance include:
Air Force, Colby Community College, Colorado Mesa University, CSU Pueblo, Fort Hays, New Mexico Highlands, Northeastern Junior College, Northwest Kansas Tech, Otero Junior College, University of Wyoming, Western State Colorado University.
