William "Woody" Blevins joined the Northern Colorado coaching staff in March of 2012 and is in charge of the safeties.Â
In June of 2014, Woody was promoted to the full-time Safeties Coach after spending two seasons at UNC as the Defensive Assistant.
In 2015, Blevins’ safety Taylor Risner led the team in tackles with 109. It was just the third time in UNC Division I program history that a defensive player reached the century mark in stops. Risner also ranked in the Top 10 in the Big Sky in tackles and made it on the All-Conference team.
2014 was another solid season for Blevins and his unit as UNC led the FCS in picks and was ranked in the Top 5 in interceptions for multiple weeks behind senior safety, Kyle Griffin who finished the season with 4 INTs.
During the 2011 season, Blevins coached the cornerbacks and assisted with special teams as an undergraduate assistant at Colorado Mesa University.
Â
Blevins played cornerback at Drake from 2006-08 and received 1 Letter. After transferring to Colorado Mesa, Blevins received three letters and two placements on the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic Second Team as a cornerback.
Â
In December of 2011, Blevins graduated from Colorado Mesa with a degree in history. Blevins earned his masters degree in Sports Coaching at UNC.
