Rachel Walton is in her seventh year at the University of Northern Colorado, she became the Sr. Associate AD/SWA in May 2019. In her current role, Walton provides leadership to all the internal areas of the department, serves as the Title IX Equity Officer for Athletics and oversees our Champions for Life Program. In addition, she is the sport supervisor for Women’s Basketball, Volleyball, Swim & Dive and Men’s & Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field.
Rachel Walton started at Northern Colorado in November 2017 as the Assistant AD for Compliance overseeing the day-to-day operations of Compliance for all 19 sports. In this role, she was responsible for rules interpretations and education, financial aid, initial and continuing eligibility and monitoring of all NCAA rules with the assistance of the Assistant Director of Compliance.
Prior to UNC, Walton spent 3 years at Wagner College where she served as an Assistant for Academics and Compliance upon her hiring in July, 2014 before being promoted to Compliance Coordinator in February, 2015. In the summer of 2016, Walton was named the Director of Compliance and then Assistant Athletic Director for Equity, Inclusion and Compliance in September 2017.  While at Wagner she earned her MBA in Management.
Prior to Wagner, she spent the 2013-2014 academic year working for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) as an Administrative Fellow in the area of Compliance. Walton has also interned for the Trenton Thunder, a Class AA minor league affiliate of the New York Yankees, and as an intern for the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers.
A native of Metuchen, NJ, Walton is a 2013 graduate of Rutgers University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science & Sports Studies while major in Sports Management with a minor in Dance.
