Associate Professor of Management Milan Larson was appointed by former UNC President Kay Norton as the NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative. He serves as the main liaison between faculty and the Department of Athletics. As the university’s FAR, he is responsible for the institution’s commitment to student athletes’ academic integrity and their overall welfare. In his full-time role Dr. Larson is a faculty member in the Monfort College of Business, specializing in Human Resource Management. Larson, consults with Athletics on leadership initiatives, and was appointed to the FAR role in 2016 after the unfortunate passing of Dr. Bob Heiny who served the university well as the FAR for many years.
Milan Larson joined the Monfort College of Business as an Assistant Professor in Management in 2005, with an emphasis to teach in Human Resource Management. In 2011 he received promotion and tenure as an Associate Professor of Management and was asked to become the department chairperson. He has been teaching at the university-level for over 15 years at other institutions, including Colorado State University, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter Minnesota. He earned his undergraduate degree from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN; MBA from the Executive Programs at University of Colorado; and PhD from University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
