Head softball coach, Dedeann Pendleton-Helm announced the promotion of David Kinnoin to the Northern Colorado softball staff in August of 2026. Kinnoin will now serve as an Assistant Coach for the Bears after serving as the Director of Player Development & Video Analysis since 2024.
In his prior role at UNC Kinnoin worked closely with the UNC softball staff in many different roles and aspects of the program. He worked closely with Coach Pendleton-Helm in practice planning, roster decision making, recruiting, and all aspects of the program. He also worked with other coaches to aid in hitting, analytics, and infield defense.
Prior to UNC Kinnoin was an assistant coach at Maine during the 2023-24 season. There he was an Infield Coach/3rd Base Coach. His Infield committed 32 errors in the 2024 Season compared to 2023 Season when they committed 53 errors. He also planned all itineraries, including hotels/food/rentals, etc. for road trips and home games throughout the season.Â
Before getting into college coaching Kinnoin was at the high school level. From 2016-23 he coached at Paradise Honors in Arizona, serving as the head coach from 2020-23. As the Head Coach his career record was 72-8. They won two Region Titles and competed in the State Semi-Finals in 2021 and 2022. In 2022 Kinnoin was named West Valley Coach of the Year.
Kinnoin started his Softball Coaching Career in Arizona where he became the Head Coach of the AZ Sidewinders Fastpitch Club. As the Head Coach he won 571 games in his 12-year stint.
On the field Kinnoin played baseball at the Collegiate Level at the University of Jamestown. After his time was up at the University of Jamestown, he played five years for the Tempe Tigers and Arizona Cardinals. During his later playing career, he finished up the Diablo Rojos where he spent two years.
