2024-25 / REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE:
Season: During Cruz’s redshirt sophomore season, he went 3-3. Recording seven and a half team points, fifty match points, one tech fall, and one major decision.
Younes Hospitality Open (11/23): Cruz went 2-2 while competing in the tournament. He won by major decision in the champ. round 1 match, 17-3. He then recorded a tech fall in the champ. round 2 match. Fort Hays Tech Northwest (12/21): Cruz won by decision over Job Lee, 6-4.
2023-24 / REDSHIRT FRESHMAN:
Season: Cruz went 3-4 during his redshirt freshman season. Cruz recorded two falls, one major decision, twelve team points, and 32 match points.
UNC Quad Duals - Otero Junior College (12/17): Cruz pinned his opponent, Sullivan Deherrera, to record six match points for UNC. Northwest Kansas Technical College (12/17): Cruz recorded another win by pin over his opponent to put six match point on the board for UNC. Cowboy Shootout (02/18): Cruz went 1-2 at the Cowboy Shootout, had a big win by major decision over Tyler Jones from Utah Valley.
2022-23 / FRESHMAN:
Season: Cruz started his college career at the UNC Quad Duals where he pinned his opponent. During his freshman year, Cruz went 5-1 with two falls and one major decision.
UNC Quad Duals (12/18): Cruz went 1-0 while competing in the dual style tournament. Taking home a win by pin. Rocky Mountain Collegiate Open (02/12): Cruz took home second place going 4-1 overall at the tournament. Cruz had one major decision, one fall, and two wins by decision.
HIGH SCHOOL / PERSONAL:
During Cruz’s high school years, he was a four-time Colorado state medalist… Cruz placed sixth his freshman year, third his sophomore year, sixth his junior year, and second his senior year… Cruz chose UNC because he felt like it was the best fit for him… Cruz is majoring in Business Marketing and hopes to own his own business one day!
Son of Frank Cruz and Dema Martinez… Brother of Franklin Cruz, who is also a wrestler for Northern Colorado.
