Scott Hewit, Wrestling 1996-1999
Scott Hewit wrestled for UNC and head coach Jack Maughan from 1996-1999. A product of Colorado’s Adams City High School, Hewitt was a four-time All-American at UNC, placing 5th at the 1996 Division II National Championships, 7th in 1997, 5th again in 1998. Hewit became just the 7th UNC wrestler to win an individual national title by winning the 157 lb weight class in 1999. After his collegiate wrestling career concluded, he served as an assistant coach for the Bears during the 1999-2000 season. Hewit was a two-time Colorado Wrestling State Champion (1992-135 lb, 1993-152 lb) and had 112 prep varsity victories. He is a third-generation State Champion after his grandfather Tony and dad Gary. Hewit’s brothers, Jared and Joey, were also Colorado state champions on the prep level. |

Marissa Hughes, Volleyball 2009-2012
Marissa Hughes set the standard for Northern Colorado Volleyball from 2009-12, stepping into the starting lineup immediately her freshman year, and helping UNC to three conference tournament titles and two regular season titles. Her impact was immediate as she set a Division I program season record with 1,384 assists during her freshman year. By the conclusion of her time at UNC she had recorded a UNC DI-record 4,877 assists. Hughes ranks fourth in the DI record book with 74 serving aces. She earned second team All-Big Sky honors her freshman through junior years, and first team her senior season. Hughes was a four-time Big Sky All-Academic team selection. |

Adrienne Jordan, Soccer, 2012-15
A four-year starter for UNC, Jordan earned first team All-Big Sky honors three times, she is just one of 13 players in the conference's history to do so. She was the two-time Defensive Player of the Year as well. Jordan was a first team NSCAA All-Pacific selection her junior year and second team her senior. Jordan played a key part in helping the program to its first DI NCAA Tournament in 2015 as the Bears beat top seed Idaho in penalty kicks by making the All-Tournament team. The lone year she did not make first team All-Big Sky was her sophomore season when an injury ended it early, she still made second team despite playing only half of the conference games. After graduating from Northern Colorado she became the first Big Sky player drafted in the NWSL, going 35th overall to Chicago. She spent time in camp with Chicago before going overseas for the past four years. Jordan was recently on Birmingham City of the Women's Professional League (WPL), the top division of English soccer. She is currently playing for the OL Reign in the NWSL. Jordan also played for the United State's U-23 team in the 2017 La Manga Cup. |

Jani Malkiewicz, Assistant Director of Sports Information 1979-1984
Malkiewicz served as the first Assistant Sports Information Director at Northern Colorado and helped establish a formal process for collecting and recording statistical information on UNC women’s collegiate sports. Malkiewicz was a champion for women’s athletics during the post-Title IX era. In addition to assisting the media coverage of the men’s collegiate programs, she designed and produced media guides and news releases for all aspects of UNC’s women’s sports during a pivotal time in the development and successes of female athletics at UNC. |

2009 Volleyball Team
The 2009 UNC volleyball team made history by becoming the first program in school history to earn a Division I NCAA Tournament berth. The Bears went 21-12 on the year, including 12-4 in Big Sky play to earn the No. 3 seed in the Big Sky Tournament. UNC defeated second seeded and host Eastern Washington in the semifinals of the Big Sky Tournament 3-2, and then knocked off top seed Portland State 3-1 in the championship. The Bears went on to face No. 6 national seed Washington, winning the first set before succumbing 3-1. Head Coach Lyndsey Oates earned Big Sky Coach of the Year honors, Allison Raguse was named a first team All-Big Sky honoree, Kenzie Shreeve and Marissa Hughes earned second team and Taylor Smith was honorable mention. Shreeve was named the MVP of the Big Sky Tournament with Raguse and Hughes joining her on the All-Tournament team. Five of the team’s members earned Academic All-Big Sky honors that year. |
