Cleveland native and standout student-athlete brings defensive strength and academic excellence to the Bears
GREELEY, Colo. – The University of Northern Colorado volleyball program has added defensive specialist/libero Julia Angert, head coach Lyndsey Oates announced Monday. Angert, a 2025 high school graduate from Saint Joseph Academy in Cleveland, Ohio, will join the Bears as part of the 2029 class.
Angert brings strong back-row skills and a competitive mindset to Northern Colorado's roster. A high-achieving student-athlete, she has earned recognition both on the court and in the classroom.
"Julia is a great athlete, but what really stood out to us was her determination. She has a unique story—after decommitting from another Division I program due to a coaching change and then undergoing hip surgery, she worked incredibly hard to come back even stronger," said Head Volleyball Coach Lyndsey Oates, "We feel like we found a hidden gem. She'll add valuable depth to an already experienced group of defenders, and we expect big things from Julia."

Off the court, Angert excels academically. She is a National Honor Society member and a High Honors graduate, earning distinctions in Engineering and Design, as well as Global Studies. She plans to major in Business Marketing at UNC and pursue a career in professional sports marketing.
