Four Bears Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

Gracie Moreland, Payten Irwin, Maria Erokhina, and Kyra Rabess are recognized for their academic excellence and impressive performances in the pool
GREELEY, Colo. – Four Bears swimmers have been named to the 2024-25 CSC Division I Academic All-District Team, as announced today by College Sports Communicators. Gracie Moreland, Payten Irwin, Maria Erokhina, and Kyra Rabess earned this honor for their outstanding academic achievements and impressive performances in the pool.
"I am incredibly proud of Gracie, Payten, Maria, and Kyra for earning this well-deserved recognition. Their dedication to both their academics and athletic performance exemplifies the core values of our program," said Head Coach Lisa Ebeling, "These athletes continue to push the boundaries of what's possible in the pool while excelling in the classroom, and they set a remarkable example for their teammates and future Bears swimmers."
Gracie Moreland, a senior for the Bears, is honored for the second consecutive year. Known for her leadership both in and out of the pool, Gracie has consistently demonstrated excellence in the classroom while also serving as a role model for her teammates, setting a high standard of dedication and commitment.
Payten Irwin, a two-time UNC Swim and Dive team captain, earned this recognition following another standout season. Irwin holds multiple UNC school records, including in the 200 fly, 200 free relay, 200 medley relay, and 400 medley relay. Her 100m fly time of 53.55 ranks second in program history, while her 50 freestyle time of 23.40 is fifth overall. She was also a key contributor at the WAC Championships, finishing with two top-three finishes.
Maria Erokhina, a two-time national record holder in the 100 breaststroke, adds this accolade to an already impressive list of accomplishments. Erokhina broke Cyprus national records in both the 100-meter (1:09.49) and 200-meter (2:31.31) breaststroke at the 2024 Short Course World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. Her season was filled with top-three finishes at multiple meets, cementing her status as one of the best in the world.
Kyra Rabess, a sophomore, was also recognized after a stellar season that included competing at the 2024 Short Course World Championships for the Cayman Islands. Rabess set national records in the 400-meter freestyle (4:14.77) and 800-meter freestyle (8:46.13), further solidifying her reputation on the global stage. She also earned bronze in the 1650 freestyle at the WAC Championships and helped the Bears set a new school record in the 800-yard freestyle relay, alongside teammates Lora Konter, Martina Yuki Trionfetti, and Lily Mayer, with a time of 7:14.85.
