Bears Add Two More Medals on Day Three of WAC Championships

Kyra Rabess claims bronze in the 200 free, while the 400 medley relay team races to silver as Northern Colorado continues to make waves
HOUSTON, Texas – Northern Colorado swimming & diving capped day three of the Western Athletic Conference Championships in sixth place, highlighted by a podium finish from Kyra Rabess in the 200 free.
Rabess secured bronze with a time of 1:48.89, marking a standout performance for the Bears. Teammates Lily Mayer (1:52.89) and Lora Konter (1:50.00) also delivered strong swims, finishing eighth and 10th, respectively.
Reese Hazan, Birgitta Ingolfdottir, Ellyson Lombardi, and Rabess delivered a stellar performance in the 400 medley relay, racing to a podium finish in second place with an impressive time of 3:41.17.
The Bears made their mark in the 100 breaststroke, placing two in the top five. Birgitta Ingolfsdottir touched fourth at 1:01.64, while Maria Erokhina followed closely behind in fifth (1:01.74).
Ellyson Lombardi delivered a top-five finish in the 100 fly, taking fourth in the A Final (53.97), while Payten Irwin dominated the B Final, placing ninth overall (55.18).
In the 400 IM, Agathi Manoli posted a time of 4:25.63 to finish 12th, while Linnea Haan placed 16th.
Martina Yuki Trionfetti continued the Bears' success in the 100 back, clocking 55.67 for sixth place. Reese Hazan rounded out the top 15, touching in 56.04.
On the platform, Madison Berg finished 17th, missing the finals by just 1.35 points.
Saturday's schedule kicks off with morning prelims for the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, and 200 fly. In the afternoon, finals will be held for the 1650 free along with the morning's events.
