Jucmane Paced Bears at Big Sky Championship

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – Marija Jucmane placed eighth at the Big Sky Conference Championship, with a 2-over-par on the Blue Course at The Wigwam Golf Course (Par 71/5,948 yards).
The graduate student from Latvia shot an even-par 71 in the opening round Monday, carding four birdies and an eagle. In the second round Tuesday, Jucmane recorded five birdies, including three straight to close the round, with a 1-under 70. In the final round, she fired a 3-over 74 Wednesday, inking a 4 on both the par-5 third and 18.
UNC finished fifth with a 296-293-288—877, four strokes behind Montana State in fourth and eight swings back of third-place Weber State. The 877 bested Idaho (sixth) by 11 strokes and 12 fewer swings than Montana in seventh.
The Bears placed all five members 26th or better in the 50-player field. Timbre Shehee completed the event tied for 16th, while Amy Chitkoksoong earned a top-20 finish, tied for 19. Louise Dahl ended in a draw for 22 nd and Carolina Fallotico equaled three other competitors in 26th.
Shehee opened with a 3-over 74, playing the par-5s at 3-under, carding a birdie on all three holes. She added a red number on the par-4 16. Shehee recorded her second-consecutive 74 Tuesday, dropping in a pair of birdies. She finished her best round of the event, posting an even-par 71 Wednesday, with six birdies.
Chitkoksoong tallied four birdies in the opening round, matching Shehee with a 74. She inked three birdies Tuesday and finished with a 4-over 75. Chitkoksoong notched three birdies and wrapped up the three-day tournament with a 1-over 72 Wednesday.
Louise Dahl birdied the par-5 first and par-3 13 on her way to a 6-over 77 in the first round. She dropped in three birdies and an eagle putt, tallying a 3-over 74 Tuesday. Dahl concluded her tournament with a strong finish, posting three birdies on her last eight holes, carrying a 1-over 72.
Fallotico equaled Dahl with a 77 Monday, with an eagle on the final hole. She totaled 75 strokes (+4) Tuesday, registering back-to-back birdies on the par-3 13 and par-4 14. Fallotico sank three birdie putts Wednesday, totaling a 2-over 73.
