Bears Break Two School Records End Day One in Third Place

PHARR, Texas – Northern Colorado completed day one of the Western Athletic Conference Championships in third of eight teams at the Pharr Natatorium Wednesday.
Katelyn Bergin, Maria Erokhina, Payten Irwin and Ali Jackson opened the women's competition with a school record and third-place finish in the 200-yard Medley Relay, in a time of 1:40.05.
Jackson teamed up with Elizabeth Mayer, Martina Yuki Trionfetti and Kyra Rabess for a runner-up time of 7:16.7 in the 800-yard freestyle. The quartet lowered the all-time school mark in the event by six seconds. Mayer posted a 200-freestyle program mark with the opening leg.
In diving action, Madison Berg earned the first A-final appearance by a Bear in 10 years, placing sixth. Kyriana Chambo made the B-final and earned three team points for placing 14th.
