Multiple Bears Shine in Close Contest Against Wyoming

GREELEY, Colo. – Despite a strong showing, Northern Colorado fell to Wyoming with a final score of 160-140 in their dual meet on Friday at home.
The Bears had several standout performances, highlighted by Martina Yuki Trionfetti, who took first place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.38. In the 100-yard fly, Ellyson Lombardi secured a victory with a time of 56.83. UNC's diving team also performed well, with Madison Berg leading the way by winning the 1-meter diving event, scoring 272.70, and placing fourth in the 3-meter event.
In the 400-yard medley relay, UNC's team of Trionfetti, Maria Erokhina, Ellyson Lombardi, and Kyra Rabess posted a time of 3:49.99, narrowly missing first place by 0.09 seconds. Rabess continued to contribute with a strong performance in the 500-yard free, taking second place with a time of 5:06.88, while Emma On-The-Hill finished third in 5:18.52.
Erokhina excelled in the breaststroke events, capturing second in the 100-yard breast with a time of 1:04.16 and winning the 200-yard breast in 2:19.13. In the 200-yard individual medley, she secured another win, clocking in at 2:10.98. Freshman Vitoria Simioni also had an impressive meet, finishing second in the 50 free at 24.86 and placing fifth in the 100 free.
In the final event, UNC's 200-yard free relay team of Simioni, Lombardi, Trionfetti, and Payten Irwin closed the meet on a high note, finishing second with a time of 1:37.69.
