Alirez Wins Gold at Poland Open

WARSAW, Poland – University of Northern Colorado wrestler Andrew Alirez continues to rack up accolades.
Alirez dominated at the Ziolkowski, Pytlasinski, Poland Open and finished 3-0 to earn the gold medal at 65 kg freestyle.
In his opening match, Alirez dominated No. 5 Haji Aliyev (Azerbaijani) from start to finish to win 8-0. Alirez followed that up with a 10-0 win over Josh Finesilver (Israel) and won via forfeit in the gold medal match vs. Mikyay Naim (Bulgaria).
The win over Aliyev is significant. Aliyev is a 3-time world champion and 2-time Olympic medalist.
