Year in Review: Swim and Dive
6/24/2022 11:10:00 AM | Women's Swimming & Diving
Not only are UNC Swimmers a force in the collegiate ranks but two Bears were selected to represent their countries at the 2021 FINA World Championships (25m) this past December. Both Madelyn Moore (Bermuda) and Ali Jackson (Cayman Islands) earned the chance to compete against the World's best in Abu Dhabi.Â
Â
No team in the history of Northern Colorado Swim and Dive performed as well at the WAC Championships as the 2021-22 squad. Head coach Lisa Ebelings' crew racked up a program-record 530.5 points, good enough for a third-place finish.Â
Â
Northern Colorado brought home four gold medals from the 2022 WAC Championships. Senior Madelyn Moore brought in three individual titles (50 free, 100 free, 100 back), not to mention UNC captured the 400 medley relay as well.Â
Â
UNC dominated the weekly awards throughout the season. On five separate occasions, the Bears earned the WAC Swimmer of the Week. Madelyn Moore took home three of them while Doris Pusztay and Katelyn Bergin earned the honor.Â
Â
Nobody was better off the blocks in the Western Athletic Conference than Madelyn Moore. For the second consecutive year, Moore's performance in the pool earned the Bermuda Native the WAC Swimmer of the Year award.Â
