GREELEY, Colo. – The 2022 class just keeps getting better. Head coach Lyndsey Oates has announced the signing of Penelope Vertin, who will join the six other future Bears who signed in the fall.
Penelope Vertin
Another product from the land of 1,000 lakes, Penelope makes her way to Greeley from Maple Grove, Minnesota. The 6'6" product has only been playing volleyball for a little over a year but has made an immediate impact on both her club (Minnesota Select) and high school teams.
Prior to volleyball, Penelope did competitive dance for more than 11 years.
Vertin chose Northern Colorado over Grand Canyon and Baylor.
What Coach Oates is Saying
"Penelope is new to the sport so we feel like she has a lot of room to grow. With her size, her upside is huge. She has the right attitude, work ethic and willingness to improve to go along with it. The timing is good for our team because we have a very veteran group that can mentor her and be great models of the game at a high level. We will also have the advantage of our trip to Greece and Italy this summer (and the practices leading up to it) to get her more experience. We are thrilled that Penelope has chosen to be a Bear!"
