UNC cross country to face a challenging 2021 schedule
GREELEY, Colo. – UNC Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Wayne Angel announced the 2021 Cross Country schedule that includes seven meets in six states capped by the NCAA Championships hosted by Florida State University.
"We are very excited about the upcoming season as we have a new crop of newcomers, with a mix of incoming freshmen and transfers that will blend nicely together with our group of retuning Bears," Angel said. "Our schedule this season is designed to have us in the best form at the Big Sky Championships as well as the Mountain West Regionals".
The UNC cross country teams will kick off the season on Sept 3rd at the Wyoming Invitational in Cheyenne. Following the season-opener, UNC travels to Lincoln, Nebraska for the Greeno/Dirksen Invitational on September 18th. Next, the Bears will get a chance to compete against some of the best teams in the nation at the 33rd Annual Chile Pepper Invitational on Oct. 2nd at the Agri Park in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Two weeks later, the Bears head South to the site of this year's NCAA Championships to take part in the NCAA Pre-Nationals on Oct 15th, hosted by Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. The postseason competition kicks off with the Big Sky Championships in Portland, Oregon. on Oct. 29th. UNC then travels to Provo, Utah for the Mountain West Region Championships before closing out the season in Tallahassee at the NCAA Cross Country Championships on November 20.
